Hotel, breakfast and service was excellent at Le Jardin d"Homps - 21 Grand Rue, Homps. Cycling across the tidal Passage du Gois across to the island of Noirmoutier was interesting and different to anything we have done previously on a bicycle. Seeing an original Rembrandt painting 'Christ on the Cross', 1631, in the Église Saint-Vincent du Mas-d’Agenais, Mas-d’Agenais was amazing. All the artwork in that church was impressive. Swimming in both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea was nice in the hot weather. Amazing engineering feats of the Canal du Midi. Betty K. [...]

What I got out of the trip was renewed confidence in my French language skills (several people were surprised when I told them I was American, since "Americans don't speak French like that!") and in my ability to resolve problems as they occurred. Some of the views were stunning, and many places (like the crumbling aqueduct) were filled with ghosts who had lived there over the centuries. [...]
